Guided Tours
During these sessions you will be visiting 3 companies’ booths with a small group of fellow colleagues and a guide with substantial clinical experience in the field of your interest.
During the presentations at the booths, you will exchange ideas about the underlying principles of the technology and/or drugs, clinical applicability, and everyday use.
Prof. Hugo Vereecke (Groningen, Belgium) will guide a tour on the fascinating topic of topic of Measuring hypnosis and analgesia and lead participants towards Fresenius Kabi and NARCOguide, that have technology in their product lines related to monitoring hypnotic and/or analgetic drug effects.
The tour led by Dr Thomas Fuchs-Buder (Nancy, France) will navigate you through the of Neuromuscular transmission monitoring . In 2023 both, the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC) independently published a practice guideline for the management of neuromuscular blockade. Unsurprisingly, both societies’ guidelines recommend the use of quantitative neuromuscular monitoring at the adductor pollicis muscle to guide reversal and to exclude residual paralysis. In current clinical practice two measurement techniques, accelromyography and electromyography are mostly used. With both technics significant improvements have been made in the last years. After a short introduction, companies Idmed,Senzime and RGB Medical will present their solutions, and you will have the opportunity to discover the latest innovations and discuss directly the experts.
With Dr Patricio González-Pizarro (Madrid, Spain), the tour will focus on Sustainable delivery of inhaled anaesthetics with participating companies Masimo, Intersurgical and Messer. Healthcare sector contributes to 5.2% of global greenhouse emissions annually. These emissions come from a wide variety of sources where inhaled anaesthetic agents account for 3% of the total emissions from the healthcare sector. Achieving the lowest possible fresh gas flow using inhaled anesthetics while tailoring drug doses using state-of-the-art monitoring enables the anesthesiologist to minimize the environmental impact of our clinical practice without compromising patient safety.
As healthcare continues to evolve, the integration of digital health tools, artificial intelligence (AI), and big data is reshaping the way anesthesia care is delivered, monitored, and optimized. In the tour on Exploring the Future of Healthcare: Digital Health, AI & Big Data, Dr Hugo Carvalho (Brugge, Belgium) will visit Medtronic, Philips, and Dräger stands and journey through the groundbreaking technologies and innovations transforming the field of anesthesiology.
The informal format intends to provide a very low threshold to ask questions. We welcome practitioners at every level in their training or professional career.
