CME Credit breakdown by day:
- 7 CME Credits for Day 1 of the Euroanaesthesia 2026 (6 June 2026)

How can I amend my abstract?
It is still possible to make corrections to an abstract prior to the submission deadline, even if it has already been submitted. The abstract can be saved, edited and revised online as many times as needed, until the submission period ends (05 December 2025, 23:59 CET).
After the submission period, corrections are no longer possible. If errors are discovered in the abstract after the deadline, you can either withdraw the abstract or – for minor errors – indicate the correction during presentation at the congress.
Please note, changes will not be included in the published version of the abstract. We, therefore, recommend carefully reviewing your abstract before submitting it on the dedicated submission platform.
Can I change the presenter of an Abstract after the submission deadline?
The author who submits the abstract is automatically designated presenter. This cannot be changed until the final selection results are announced.
After the announcement of the results, if the abstract has been selected and a change of presenter is necessary, the original presenter can login to the abstract submission platform and select, in the authors section, another presenter for the abstract. The new presenter must be selected among the authors of the abstract.
All mandatory information should be filled in as appropriate.
The new presenter must register for the full physical congress by 01 April 2026.
If a change of presenter is requested after 01 April 2026, the new presenter has to be already registered for the full physical congress for the change to be possible. The original presenter is responsible for providing the new presenter with all information previously sent by the ESAIC Headquarters regarding the abstract and onsite presentation.
Important: the same presenter cannot be assigned more than 3 abstracts. Co-authors must be appointed as presenters, if that is the case after the selection results announcement.
What is the registration process of the Abstract presenter?
If the abstract is accepted, the work must be presented in-person at Euroanaesthesia 2026, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. There is no possibility to present the abstract online.
Presenters of accepted Abstracts must register for the full physical congress by 01 April 2026!
If a presenter fails to register before 01 April 2026:
- The abstract(s) will be withdrawn by the ESAIC;
- The abstract(s) will not be published in the e-supplement of the European Journal of Anaesthesiology and removed from all other Euroanaesthesia-related publications;
- The abstract(s) will be rejected for presentation at the congress
View the applicable Congress registration fees.
Important: the same presenter cannot be assigned more than 3 abstracts. o-authors must be appointed as presenters, if that is the case after the selection results announcement.
What are the Abstract publication details?
All accepted abstracts will be published in their entirety as an e-supplement to the European Journal of Anaesthesiology (EJA). Note that publication of the accepted abstract is dependent on the registration of the abstract presenter for the full, physical congress by 01 April 2026.
If accepted for presentation at the congress, the abstract will be published as entered into the abstract submission programme.
What is the Abstract presentation format?
Abstract presenters will be required to prepare an ePoster and make a short formal presentation in front of an ePoster terminal.
Two chairpersons will conduct a short discussion of each abstract with the presenter and the audience, for every abstract in that session. In each session, up to 12 abstracts can be presented.
Abstract presentation will only take place onsite at Euroanaesthesia 2026 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Virtual/online presentations will not be possible.
What if there are time conflicts when presenting several abstracts?
The ESAIC Team does its utmost to avoid scheduling several abstract presentations by the same person at the same time. Unfortunately, considering the high number of abstracts presented at the congress, time conflicts may still occur and presentations cannot be rescheduled. Should this happen, please consider the following options:
- Ask a co-author attending the congress to present one of the abstracts for you.
- Ask the chairpersons of the sessions in which your abstracts have been scheduled to be the first to present in one session and the last in the other. This way you can present both abstracts yourself.
There are more than 6 active contributors to the research. Is it possible to make an exception to list all co-authors?
No.
The 6 authors-limit is necessary to ensure the readability of the programme and printing of the Abstract Book. It is therefore non-negotiable.
For non-case report submissions, you are allowed to included acknowledgments. This is an alternative way to mention the contributors who unfortunately cannot make the authors list. In addition, you will have the opportunity to list all co-authors on your e-poster when you present the abstract at Euroanaesthesia.
I want to submit a case-report but the patient has died before I could obtain written consent, what should I do?
You should take every reasonable steps to obtain consent from a surrogate of the patient who has legal authority to consent.
If it proves impossible to obtain consent from a surrogate, you must then obtain permission to submit from an institutional review board (IRB), independent ethics committee (IEC) or ethical review board (ERB).
If all of the above is unfeasible, you may contact the ESAIC Headquarters to expose the situation and obtain permission to submit from the ESAIC Ethics Committee.
When can I expect to hear back about the results of the selection?
Notification of acceptance or rejection will be sent by the end of February 2026.
Only the presenting author will receive abstract-related communications and is responsible for informing all co-authors of the status of the abstract.
For my non-case report, are the (optional) references included in the total character count?
Yes.
The references are optional for a non-case report but, if you choose to include some, they do count towards the total character count.
Refer to the “character counter” at the bottom the Abstract Text box.
I have submitted my abstract for publication in an indexed journal but I do not know if it is going to be accepted. Can I submit my abstract for Euroanaesthesia?
Yes.
You cannot submit an abstract that has been or will be published in an indexed journal before Euroanaesthesia. However, if you are still unsure whether your abstract will be published, we encourage you to submit your abstract nonetheless. We simply require that you withdraw your abstract as soon as possible, if it is confirmed that your abstract will eventually be published before Euroanaesthesia.
Can you already tell me on what day the abstract presentations will take place during the Euroanaesthesia congress?
No.
Abstract presentation sessions are scheduled over the 3 days of the congress. Therefore, presenters must register for the full, 3-day, physical congress by 01 April 2026.
Presentation schedules will be sent out in March 2026.
I want to present my abstract with one of my co-authors at the Euroanaesthesia congress, is that possible?
Yes.
However, note that only one author can be the official presenter.
This means that
– if both authors attend the congress, they may present the abstract together. Make sure to notify the Chair of the session in advance.
– only the official presenter (1) will receive all the communication related to the abstract and presentation process, (2) is entitled to an extended early bird registration fee, and (3) will receive a certificate attesting that they presented their research at Euroanaesthesia (the co-presenter will receive a certificate of attendance).
I want to submit a case report, do you provide a specific consent form that I should use?
No. ESAIC does not provide a template for the consent form.
We encourage you to use the consent form provided by your institution as, if the ESAIC Ethics Committee needs to investigate your submission further, they are likely to reach out to your Institution directly.
You must ensure that you have the patient(s) written consent and that you retain it until you receive the results of the selection.
I still have an unanswered question. Whom can I contact?
If you have any questions regarding your abstract submission, please contact the ESAIC Secretariat via abstracts@esaic.org.
When contacting the ESAIC Secretariat in relation to an abstract, please always mention the abstract reference (#xxxx) and title.
